Technology giants from China have been making inroads into new developments around cloud computing for some time, with telecoms and e-commerce firms leading the way.
Now, it seems they are set to find a way to enter the UK market, with Alibaba Cloud picking its sole distribution across the UK - Arrow Electronics.
The company will offer cloud solutions and enterprise options based on the hardware it produces.
Since Arrow is solely an electronics manufacturer, it appears it will now also become a distribution channel for the Chinese giant.
It seems this move has been kept quiet as Alibaba Cloud tried to respond to market moves by rival Huawei, which has spoken of setting up training and development centres to usher in a new trained generation of cloud-ready technology workers.
Arrow said in a statement that it allows “smaller and medium channel players the opportunity to work with Alibaba Cloud in the EMEA market,” which this partnership has been designed to facilitate.
Such a move is likely to make it easier for UK clients to access a host of products that come in line with Alibaba Cloud, with hardware from Arrow Electronics now set to be part of their European offering.
Alibaba Cloud International said: “We understand the opportunities that cloud technologies can create for channel partners,” adding that it chose this electronics partner to develop with “cloud-enablement opportunities and local expertise,” which is something that may have previously hampered its entrance into overseas markets.
