Summary – Transaction narratives & transaction codes

Sage 200 version 2015 introduced a function where nominal ledger transaction narratives and transaction codes can be amended and updated after transactions have been entered.

What does amending nominal ledger transaction narratives & transaction codes do?

After entry in any module, it is possible to add to or change the nominal ledger transaction narrative (up to 6,000 characters) and / or apply or change transaction analysis codes if used.

How do I do this?

Nominal Ledger >> Current Transactions List

In the List View, click on any row of a transaction to highlight it, then click the Amend Transaction Details button in the top shortcut bar.

The Amend Nominal Posting Details screen allows the updating of nominal ledger transaction narrative and if used transaction analysis code.

When finished, click Save.

Additional Information

Waiting Postings: if used, these details can also be amended via the Current Waiting Postings List and Deferred Waiting Posting List.

Workspaces: the Amend Nominal Posting Details screen can also be opened via nominal ledger workspaces – Nominal Ledger Current Transaction Enquiry, Nominal Current Pending Postings and Nominal Deferred Pending Postings; use the Action – Amend Nominal Posting Details.

Reference: depending on where the original transaction was entered the Amend Nominal Posting Details screen sometimes also allows the Reference to be amended; note that if amended this will change the reference of the transaction in the nominal ledger but will not change the primary reference in the source module, for example a purchase ledger invoice reference can be changed for the entry in nominal ledger though the reference in purchase ledger will remain unchanged: The reference in the purchase ledger can be updated in purchase ledger.
