Update 17.3 for Business Central has added shortcut dimensions as columns in transaction views for customer, supplier and general ledger transactions.
You can now export data from these columns to Excel for easy ad hoc analysis of entries, for example, by creating pivot tables.
As a reminder you can set the shortcut dimensions at by searching for “General Ledger Setup”
Once they are set then close Business Central and re-open it. if you do not do this and then you go to customer, supplier or general ledger transactions then you will probably see the dimension columns title like the below, where it say “Shortcut Dimension”
When you restart Business Central the columns get the correct name
Page – Open in Excel will then push this correctly formatted data direct into Excel ready for analysis
